Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Why should I trust you with my computer's hard drive?

I have 20+ years experience as an Information Technology Specialist with the State of Washington, so I have some experience dealing with computers and computer related issues.

  2. You say my data is safe and secure from prying eyes, but how do I know for sure?

Sometimes it comes down to trust. I also have ten years' experience as a professional investigator with the state of Washington, and one of the things that an investigator has to have is professional integrity. When I say no one will see your data, I mean it: Absolutely NO ONE. And that includes my former fellow investigators, police departments, state agencies, private detectives, industrial spies, your ex-wife, your ex-husband, the FBI, the CIA, etc.
No one will ever see the data that I extract from your hard drive. NO ONE!

  3. Okay, it's one thing to get my data back to me, but it doesn't do a lot of good if I don't have a working computer. What can you do to help me?

For an additional charge, I can install a new hard drive and reinstall your operating system. My basic fee for doing this is just $100 plus the cost of the new hard drive. Let's talk about it. Call me at 1-360-232-6322 or send me an email at

  4. I'm under a deadline. How long will it take for me to get my data back?

In most cases, I can get it back to you within a 24-hour turnaround from the time that I get the damaged hard drive, but I'm sure you understand that some issues are more difficult to resolve than others. Nevertheless, I strive to attain the 24-hour standard that I've set for myself. If you absolutely have to have it back as soon as possible, let me know and I can put you at the top of the list. For a modest additional charge, of course...

  5. Do you also do this for Apple Macintosh computers with damaged hard drives?

Sorry, I have neither the skills nor the requisite software to work on Macintosh hard drives. However, for some reason, fried hard drives on Macs don't seem to be the problem that they are on PC-based operating systems.

  6. Only some of my data was recovered. What's the deal?

Because each dead hard drive can be damaged in various ways, there is no way to guarantee that all of your data can be recovered. However, in the vast majority of the cases, nearly all of the data can be successfully reclaimed from the graveyard of hard drives.

  7. Your operation is in Olympia Washington. I live in Florida. What can you do for me?

You can use the US Mail to send your damaged hard drive to me. I will extract the data, burn it onto a DVD, and send it back to you. The total amount you will ever have to pay to recover your precious and irreplaceable data is still only $75 plus the cost of return postage.
